Fitzroy River Bridge Temporary Works
Peritas was engaged by the Fitzroy Bridge Alliance to provide temporary works and construction engineering support for the replacement of the Fitzroy River Bridge, following its failure during major flooding events in early 2023. The project formed a critical component of disaster recovery efforts in the Kimberley region, restoring a key transport link for communities and freight.
Peritas delivered comprehensive temporary works engineering assistance throughout the project, supporting multiple aspects of the bridge construction. This included the design and detailing of deck soffit formwork, pile cap formwork, and crow’s nest access systems, as well as engineering support for pier shell lifting and stability and pile cage reinforcement lifting.
In addition, Peritas undertook review of the bridge launching methodology and provided construction-phase engineering input to ensure safe, efficient, and practical delivery under challenging site conditions. The solutions developed prioritised constructability, safety, and rapid deployment to meet the urgent programme requirements associated with disaster recovery works.
Delivered innovative and practical temporary works solutions that reduced construction risk and supported the rapid reinstatement of a critical regional transport link following a major flood event.
